Hi, Almost two years ago I tore the meniscus in my left knee. I was taken to hospital by ambulance but the A&E dr couldn't decide if it was ligament or meniscal damage so referred me for physiotherapy to start 4 days later. After 6 weeks of physio I was still in terrible pain and unable to walk properly so they referred me to orthopaedics. I had to wait another 8 weeks for an appointment. This surgery took place 2 weeks later. Six months later I was still having mobility problems and pain so my GP sent me back to the orthos who decided to do another arthroscopy to see what was wrong. During this procedure (for which I had a spinal blockand was awake) I was told I needed to have the underside of my patella shaved as it was preventing my knee cap gliding as it should and It is now 4 months since I had the surgery and the pain is still severe at the side of my knee cap, mainly when bending my knee to sit, stand and when walking. This is a different pain and in a different area to what I had before the surgery, and I think is where the retinaculum was lasered apart. Have others experienced this, and if so how long before it settles? Please Help. Thanks, for more you can check References: forums.netdoctor.co.uk/animated infographics
